Univ. Prof. Dr. Paul Haber

Internal and Sport Medicine

Univ. Prof. Dr. Haber was born in 1944 in St. Gallen, Switzerland. He studied medicine in Vienna and graduated in 1970. He completed his internship in 1973.

To date, Professor Haber has published more than 230 scientific publications in the fields of pulmology, cardiology, physical rehabilitation, and sports medicine.
He has authored of 6 textbooks.
He lectures regularly at the Institute of Nutritional Science at the Medical University of Vienna.

  • 1985: Chairman of the Executive Board in Internal Medicine at Vienna General Hospital (AKH)
  • 1984-90: Member of the Faculy Organization at Vienna General Hospital (AKH)
  • 1986: Planner of the Department of Pulmology at Vienna General Hospital (AKH)
  • 1991: Development of the Clinical Department of Pulmology in Internal Medicine at Vienna General Hospital (AKH); served as Deputy Head and Deputy of the Hospital Board.
  • 1992: Founding of the Sports Medicine Department in Internal Medicine at Vienna General Hospital (AKH)
  • 2007: retirement

1992 and 1996: Designated physician of the Austrian Olympic Team in Barcelona, Atlanta.
From 1989 until 2000: Member of Top Sport Austria (TSA).
2000- 2003: Member of the scientific advisory board at Top Sport Austria (TSA)
2004-2010: Member of the scientific advisory fund for Special Olympics
2004-2008: Medical supervisor of the ÖFB Teams Challenge 2008 for the EURO 2008.

Prof. Haber was an active sportsman in swimming until 1965:
Viennese Student Champion from 1957 until 1958
Viennese and Austrian Youth Champion in 1962
Viennese Champion in 1964 and 1965
Austrian Champion in 1964
Member of the Austrian National Team in 1964

Prof. Haber is a certified swimming coach.
He has been awarded the Gold Medal for Service to the City of Vienna.
He is married and is the father of 2 children.
